Play Ball!

Baseball is finally back, and it has been a long, cold winter without our boys in blue. Of course, it's still a little bit cold, but at least we have baseball to warm us up.

As a whole, our Crew looked pretty good against the Cubs on Monday. Sheets was pitching like we all know he can when he's not having cramps or hangnails, and our defense seems to be a bit better.

The one thing that did not look good was the bottom of the 9th inning. Our $10 million dollar closer threw up 7 balls in a row, and gave up a 3 run homer to Fukudome to tie the game. I could pitch that bad for a lot cheaper!

This one time, however, I am willing to give Gagne a pass. I watched the game later that night, and in his defense, most of his pitches weren't missing by much. And he seemed to have some trouble with the mound being slippery. So that's his mulligan. The next time he tanks he will get the full brunt of my wrath!

One guy who did look great was Mota. He was throwing some nasty stuff up there and had unbelievable movement on most of his pitches. Thank goodness Billy Castro watched that old film and figured out what was throwing Mota off. Let's hope he can keep it up!

So Monday was a great day. It's a good day when we win, but it's a great day when we beat the Cubs!

Brewers on Deck

Those of you who went to the On Deck event this year know what a clusterf*ck it was. The lines were insane and most fans left without the autograph they most wanted. A guy in line in front of me suggested that season ticket holders, including 9 and 20 packs, get vouchers for one, two or four autographs. He compared it to the fast pass at Disney World. I think that is a great idea. Your loyal fans (i.e. not bandwagoners) are rewarded, and people are encouraged to buy packages. We saw Rick Schlessinger and I passed on the suggestion. He agreed that it was a good idea, but we'll see what happens. I'll take a pass next year if they do it the same way. It's not worth getting up early, fighting the crowds and standing in line for hours to not get the autograph you want.

So that's it for today Brewer fans. It's time for baseball, and for me to get back to work. Until next time, go Brewers!
